Not sure where I found this but I liked it so I’m using it….
“We have life-giving water in us. With our words, we can bring healing, hope and purpose to others. Choose to speak encouragement and life. Tell others what they can become, give compliments and live life as a healer. Pour out life-giving water with your words and watch it come back to you in abundance.”
We all have the choice to speak positive encouraging words to each other, to lift each other up and be a blessing to others. Our words can cut wounds so deep that nothing can heal the hurt, and sometimes in the heat of the moment we say things that we can never take back because once its out of our mouth, it can be forgiven but never forgotten. Words are a powerful tool. The flip of the coin is that we can also use words that are helpful, positive, encouraging and uplifiting to someone else. We can give hope where there is no hope, we can brighten the darkest of days and we can use our words to give strength to the weak. I challenge you to chose your words carefully.
Job 4:4 NLT
“Your words have supported those who were falling; you encouraged those with shaky knees.”
the Book of Job is one of my favorites and I go back to it in times of trials.
I must add that. being my daughter, you have heard me say many times that “actions speak louder than words but words last a life time.” Which of course, reinforces the affect that words can have on one another. Wouldn’t it be nice to know that a kind word could change the way a person feels about themselves?
I’ve really been struggling with speaking kindly to David(eek, bad I know). The other day I wrote a sticky note to remind me to be encouraging, uplifting and postitive. So this was really encouraging to read and Gods timing just right.
